This article analyzes the emotional reactions to the January 2015 attacks in the heat of the moment (during the events). My argument is that the January attacks must be put in the context of the war France is waging against “terrorism” and that identifying with the French victims of this war alone risks accentuating the war logic, claiming further victims in the global South and provoking new attacks in France.
