This article is part of a series on academic freedom. It analyzes the infringements to academic freedom in Germany in the context of the Israeli war in Gaza since October 2023. The general argument is that German academia is at the cross-roads identified by Derrida in “The university without condition”. It will surrender without condition if it does not engage in a radical critique of what the German elite calls Germany’s raison d’Etat.
